EU-Projekt: Cornet ProLegu

Work Packages

WP 1: Provision of legume varieties (Pisum sativum, Lupinus angustifolius, Vicia faba, Glycine max)

The aim of WP 1 is to identify the varieties of peas (Pisum sativum L.), field beans (Vicia faba), narrow-leafed lupin (Lupinus angustifolius) and soya (Glycine max) that are most appropriate for use in poultry nutrition.

WP 2: Analytical platform for the new products

The objective of WP 2 is to form the analytical core unit to characterize the specific fractions of untreated and treated legumes, feeds, intermediate products and final poultry meat products. The key aim is the establishment of analytical processes that can help to characterize the new products regarding the complete spectrum of nutritional and antinutritional factors.

WP 3: Technological and biotechnological treatments to improve nutritional and functional properties of legumes

The objective of WP 3 is to evaluate and consolidate the potential of conventional and innovative technological ways for an application in legume processing for animal feed production. The objectives of WP 3 are the production of specific fractions from untreated and pretreated legumes after traditional and innovative treatments, fermentation processes as well as their combinations.

WP 4: Production of prototype feed, feeding trials, proof of concept

The objective of WP 4 is to develop three prototype-products including the full characterization of the nutritional value as feed components for broilers and turkeys.

WP 5: Legal and social aspects of new products including comparison with genetically modified feed

One of the priorities is to increase the social acceptance for agrotechnology, it is worth analyzing the current views of Europeans about this field of knowledge and economy. In this context, it is also important to identify areas which enjoy the smallest support and need to be popularized. Within the project, in particular, interest is focused on the opinion of experts and practitioners from Germany and Poland.
