Cornet Robust Wheat
WP 1: Field trials of the winter wheat sample population assembled from German and Austrian project partners
The field trials will form the basis for phenotyping and association mapping in WP2 and WP3, respectively. The trials will include the sample population of winter wheats with two replications. With regard to two different maturity groups, plots will be arranged in a randomised incomplete ?-lattice design.
WP 2: Phenotypic assessment of PHS tolerance
The success of the QTL identification studies in WP3 heavily depends on the accurate evaluation of the phenotype of interest. In this work package it is intended to evaluate the winter wheat cultivars for PHS, a trait showing different heritability in multiple environments across years.
WP 3: Association mapping of PHS tolerance QTL
WP 3 aims to provide molecular markers for efficient breeding through identifying QTL for PHS tolerance and assessing their effects in a sample population of european winter wheats using an association mapping approach. For that, genotyping data for the wheat cultivars from DArT, SSR and SNP analyses will be collected and integrated with PHS tolerance phenotyping data from WP 2.
